Local artist Al Favell has created a beautiful painting that now hangs in the Longhouse Church in memory of Dwayne Rasmussen, Garland McKay and Steven Yellowquill under the Yum Yum Tree, where they often gathered in the shade on warm summer days.

These longtime residents of Hastings Sunrise will be forever missed by their families and friends.

On December 22, 2010 a housefire claimed the lives of these three gentlemen. They will long be remembered for their camaraderie toward each other, humour and laughter that filled the hearts of our community.

Pastor Barry Morris of the Longhouse Church and Eka Co-founder Kara Ardan have received a small community grant to create a memorial bench for outside the church.
