Eka is a non-profit, community service cooperative that brings together individuals, communities and organizations committed to moving beyond multiculturalism. All too often integration is one-way and at the expense of authentic cultural continuity, especially for indigenous peoples. We promote social cohesion through cooperative-culturalism, a community-based, dialogic approach that creates space for dynamic integration by bringing together a richer diversity of voices and emphasizing interaction among cultural groups. We are working to ensure vibrant, resilient communities for future generations, creating pathways to meaningful participation that unleash the vast potential of all peoples of British Colombia.
In the words of Wade Davis, a rich, living ethnosphere is the rightful inheritence of all humanity.
Our consultants bring expertise from a variety of fields, and offer their capacity building and community development services to communities, organizations and companies on a fee for service or pro bono basis.
Intercultural dialogue, community visioning, participatory planning, political advocacy, transformative conflict resolution, storytelling & graphic facilitation - these are just some of the ways we can help!
